Section X Leadership Workshop: Uncovering the Treasure

The annual Section X FFA Leadership Workshop was held September 19th, 2011 at the East Troy High School. Two of the Delavan- Darien FFA officers elected to attend the conference, Megan Erickson, Historian, and Abigail Jensen, President. Both members came out of the conference with a renewed sense of how being an FFA officer and member can be rewarding. Megan and Abigail attended workshops that helped them with their officer positions and how to handle different situations that they will be in, or could be put in throughout their term. Megan enjoyed her workshops that were based on utilizing media to spread the message about FFA along with a workshop on leadership styles. While Megan was aboard the Leader Ship, Abigail was working closely with other chapter presidents to brain storm ideas on how to lead their chapter effectively, be a positive role model, and having fun this year! The presidents also had the priveledge of spending time with the Section X State Officer, Kayla Hack from East Troy. Overall, the officers attending said that this was a leadership workshop that they would not have wanted to miss.

FFA’s annual Work Auction a success

April started off with a bang for the Delavan- Darien FFA Alumni.

The Delavan-Darien FFA Alumni Work Auction began at 7 p.m. in the Delavan-Darien cafeteria with a flood of FFA members, alumni, parents and supporters.

The Work Auction is organized to help sponsor the FFA Alumni, who largely support the FFA leadership and personal growth of members in the organization.

Throughout the Work Auction, the finest FFA members volunteer eight hours of their time to be “sold” to sponsor the FFA Alumni, in return for all of the hard work and dedication that they commit to the FFA organization.

FFA Alumni or supporters “bought” many of the students to help with small tasks around the farm, home, garden, or any other task that they may be putting off.

The FFA Alumni compiled different baskets that were auctioned off by Mike Welch. The baskets included gift certificates and products from local businesses along with various FFA and FFA Alumni items and apparel.

Overall, the work auction was a success and the Alumni look forward to another great year with the Delavan-Darien community and FFA.
